Upcoming Employer Workshops:

McAlester: Thursday, September 18th, 9:00 am. Register here.

An increasing number of businesses are hiring people with disabilities to access a skilled labor pool and reap the benefits of tax incentives and community recognition for being an inclusive employer. Many partner with local schools to offer job training for students with disabilities, resulting in loyal, motivated workers.

However, some employers may hesitate due to uncertainty or common misconceptions about the process.

To help, the Autism Foundation of Oklahoma, in partnership with Plan Your Way OK, offers a free employer workshop and subsequent support program. “Partners in Success” helps businesses build successful alliances with Oklahoma schools to train and hire students with disabilities who will soon graduate from high school.

“Partners in Success” begins with a 90-minute training program that addresses common misconceptions, relevant state and federal laws, and provides strategies and resources to create effective collaborations with Plan Your Way OK partners.

Businesses that complete the training receive a complimentary AFO Sensory Kit and are eligible for additional support programs, including free follow-up training and either on-site or virtual consultations.

Together, we can build bright futures for Oklahoma students with disabilities and bridge employment gaps in the state of Oklahoma.
